Instrument Cleaning Method:
Wash all instruments thoroughly with water, soap, and a brush while wearing thick gloves, ensuring that all grooves and serrations are completely free from blood or any contamination. Immediately rinse blood-contaminated instruments with cold water after use, as blood coagulates over time, making cleaning difficult. In addition, microorganisms present in blood may survive the sterilization process.
Next, immerse the instruments in a disinfectant solution and place them in an ultrasonic cleaner. After this step, perform a second manual wash, carefully dry all instruments, and then pack and sterilize them in an autoclave. Do not soak the instruments in disinfectant for too long; the maximum recommended time is 10 minutes.
Avoid piling instruments on top of one another, and place heavier tools at the bottom of the container. To prevent corrosion and rust transfer, separate damaged instruments and unlock any closed or hinged parts before sterilization.
