Nylon Surgical Suture Thread (Sutures)
The Nylon Surgical Suture is a non-absorbable suture material manufactured in Iran, made from a polyamide polymer. Commonly produced from nylon 6 or nylon 6/6, these sutures are among the most widely used non-absorbable surgical threads.
Nylon is often referred to as polymeric steel due to its high tensile strength. Since proteins are also polyamides, nylon demonstrates excellent biocompatibility. It is chemically inert, making it suitable for general wound closure, especially in dermal and epidermal suturing.
Because of its structural similarity to skin tissue and superior strength, nylon sutures are also used for tendon and ligament repair. The most common type is monofilament nylon, which provides smoother handling and reduces the risk of bacterial accumulation compared to multifilament sutures.
